She's How Old?

Clearly I'm not very good at this blogging thing.  I haven't posted in.... forever!  I don't feel comfortable posting things about my kids but since no one reads this I guess it's okay! Lol!

My daughter turned 8 recently.  Ugh!  I can't believe it.  I still remember her watching Curious George in the living room and squealing with delight when her daddy got home.  Now she's singing along with Taylor Swift on the radio and busting out crazy dance moves. (sigh)

As usual, I spent countless hours making decorations for her party.  One of my favorites were these photo booth props.  Here theme was "cupcakes" so I dusted off my Cricut and started cutting!  I also made pink, glittery mustaches but apparently didn't take pictures of them.

I figured the boys would want to get in on the action, so I made some manly ones too...

What I didn't expect was the boys choosing the girly stuff!  My nephews are such hams!

Here are the lovely ladies.  (Note the fabric pennant banners in the background.  They were another  party project.  So were the cupcake headbands!)

Well, I hope you enjoyed this post.  I'll try to show some more party projects over the weekend.
 Bye for now!

Patriotic Ribbon Wreath

Welcome to my blog!  As an "obsessive crafter" I often see projects that I'm dying to try for myself.  One of the projects on my list was a ribbon wreath. Since the 4th of July is right around the corner, I thought I'd make mine patriotic.  I'm pretty pleased with the result!  I will tell you that if you've never made one be prepared to spend some time working on it.  Though easy, this project is VERY time consuming, especially if you're making a wreath larger than 12 inches.

I used a 12" wreath form and 16 different kinds of ribbon ranging from 5/8 to 1 1/2 inches in width.  Using so many kinds of ribbon worked because there were only 3 colors.  If you had more colors I think it might look too busy.  One of my craftng rules is: Keep it Simple.  If you think you're over-doing it, you probably are.
This wreath was a birthday gift for my mother-in-law.  So I HAD to make a card to go with it...

The sentiment inside reads "Hope your birthday is POODLES of fun!"  I wanted to keep the same red, white and blue theme on the card but it would have looked super cute as a pink poodle on black and white too!

I also made a 16 inch wreath in the same colors.  (It was actually the first one I made.)  It took me a weekend to complete!  I'll post pictures when I find a good spot to photograph it.  =)

Happy Crafting!
